Ease of Access

Mount Washington is a unique destination – located on Vancouver Island and towering a mile high above the picturesque Comox Valley. From the slopes there are spectacular views over the island-dotted ocean below and the rugged Coast Range beyond. With one of the deepest natural snow packs in North America, as well as a wide variety of terrain, Mount Washington offers great skiing and riding in a truly special location.

As well as marvelling at the scenery from the slopes, you can explore the surrounding countryside by snowshoes or Nordic ski, or travel just 40 minutes to the fairways and greens of the local golf courses and even journey to the nearby coast for a spot of whale watching.

The terrain, both on and off-piste, along with excellent powder, make the resort appealing to advanced skiers, but with instructors and ski hosts on hand along with novice facilities, those strapping on skis or a board for the first time will enjoy their experience too.

On the front side of Mount Washington there are wide beginners’ trails as well as blue and black groomed runs for intermediates. Learners will progress on Easy Acres, with four Magic Carpets easing their ride.

The more advanced as well as adventurous intermediates will relish the steep glades along with the bumps and jumps on offer on the front side. There are also two terrain parks with plenty of features.

The back side of the mountain or “Outback” is the place for steep powder gullies and chutes featuring challenging un-groomed terrain, where every run is rated double black.

Mount Washington’s resort village offers ski in/ski out lodging. There is a pub-style bar and grill with regular live entertainment and family-friendly section, sushi, pizzas, fresh daily local specials, kids favourites and tasty breakfasts, are just a few of the winter dining options on mountain. The Comox Valley and city of Courtenay is a half hour drive down the mountain for more dining options, nightlife, arts and local culture. There is day care for children from 18 months to 5 years old.

The world class Nordic Centre features 55km (33 miles) of scenic groomed tracks and there are also snowshoeing trails that range in length from 0.5 to 9km.

There are weekly moonlight snowshoe and fondue tours, along with snow-tubing and night skiing running until 10pm.

We can arrange your lift passes, rental equipment and ski school and Mount Washington Ski Resort before you go which will save you approximately 5% from the in resort prices.
