A Memorable Ski Journey Through Quebec: Montreal and Tremblant

Embark on an extraordinary adventure through Quebec, Canada, where vibrant city life seamlessly blends with exhilarating ski experiences. A few years ago I took a delightful trip to see what Eastern Canada has to offer. Read on to hear about my adventures on this trip (updated for 2025)

Discover why Quebec is a premier destination for ski holidays, divided into two captivating sections: Montreal’s cultural allure and Tremblant’s snowy slopes.

Montreal: Urban Elegance and Cultural Delights

Upon arrival, a Quebec Tourism representative greeted us and arranged a swift 20-minute private bus transfer to the elegant Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in downtown Montreal. The spacious rooms provided a perfect retreat. That evening, we explored Montreal’s vibrant nightlife, visiting Hurley’s Irish Pub, which offers a large variety of  beers and stouts.

The following morning, we savoured a sumptuous buffet breakfast at the Fairmont, complete with a chef preparing custom egg dishes and a variety of fresh options. A tour of the hotel showcased its amenities, including a gym, pool, and direct access to Montreal’s underground city and train station. A guided bus tour illuminated the city’s rich history, with the awe-inspiring cathedral Notre-Dame Basilica as a highlight—its stunning interior is a must-visit. Another personal highlight for me was visiting Circuit Gilles Villeneuve the home of the Montreal Grand Prix. Lunch was at Restaurant Holder on McGill Street which offers refined seafood dishes and steaks, showcasing Quebec’s culinary excellence.

We strolled through Mount Royal Park, a picturesque destination offering winter activities like tubing and skating. We also visited the AC Hotel by Marriott Montreal Downtown (formerly Delta Centre-Ville), enjoying a hearty breakfast and admiring the sleek, airy rooms. The hotel’s glass elevator offered stunning city views, and its revolving restaurant, Bivouac, remains a 2025 gem for panoramic dining.

The Montreal Botanical Garden provided a serene escape with vibrant displays and a seasonal butterfly. Although the Biodome was closed during our visit, it’s a remarkable attraction with free-roaming animals in immersive ecosystems, highly recommended. Lunch at Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal was exceptional, with its boutique ambiance, spacious rooms, and delectable crème brûlée. The hotel’s scented air conditioning added a refined touch. We then relaxed at Strøm Nordic Spa in Old Montreal, indulging in eucalyptus steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, and cold plunge pools—a truly rejuvenating experience.

Our Montreal culinary journey concluded with a hearty smoked meat sandwich at Brisket Montreal on Beaver Hall Hill, a quintessential Quebec dish paired with fries, perfect for food enthusiasts.

Montreal’s unique blend of diner and bar atmospheres creates a lively experience for visitors.

Tremblant: Alpine Adventures and Lakeside Luxury

En route to Mont Tremblant, we visited Auberge du Lac Morency in the Laurentians, a romantic haven for couples. Offering summer activities like kayaking, tennis, and forest walks, plus private jacuzzies, a spa, indoor pool, and exceptional dining with an impressive wine cellar, it’s a perfect retreat.

A 10-minute helicopter ride with Heli-Tremblant, priced at approximately CAD 150 per person in 2025, offered breathtaking views of the region. We settled into Ermitage du Lac in Mont Tremblant, a charming hotel with spacious suites, ideal for couples seeking tranquillity. Just a 3-minute walk to the cabriolet lift, it provides easy access to the slopes. Ski gear pickup at Boutique de Ski Mont-Tremblant was efficient, with friendly staff equipping us in under 15 minutes.

Skiing (or in my case boarding) in Tremblant was exhilarating, with enthusiastic instructors guiding us through world-class slopes.

In the evening we visited The Hotel Quintessence which was really quite a special place. Fabulous views over the lake, fantastic rooms delicious food we only had appetizers but there were amazing. It also had a really well stocked bar and extremely good service a hotel truly deserving of its 5 star status. Just on the edge of Tremblant Village means it is a littles further from the slopes but if you don’t mind  a short walk to the base of the mountain than it is a fantastic place to stay. Has an outdoor hot tub and cold pool overlooking by the lake.

We then explored Casino de Mont-Tremblant, accessible by gondola until 1 AM or a free shuttle, it adds a distinctive nightlife option to the ski resort.

On our final day, we toured Residence Inn by Marriott Mont Tremblant, a comfortable option with lift access, and Homewood Suites by Hilton Mont-Tremblant, a budget-friendly choice near the slopes. The Westin Tremblant offered a great 4 star experience, with the Sommet des Neiges standing out with its ski-in/ski-out location and modern rooms.
